# AlgoExpert vs AlgoPath: is AlgoExpert worth it

Short answer. AlgoExpert is a curated list of 200 interview questions, each with a video walkthrough. AlgoPath makes you implement the algorithm before you see any solution. Want one tidy list with videos? AlgoExpert does that well. Can you follow any walkthrough and still not write the code alone? Start here.

*Prices checked on the vendor's own page on 26 September 2026.*

## Side by side

| | AlgoExpert | AlgoPath |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The unit of work | One interview question | One algorithm |
| What you produce | A solution to that question | The algorithm, then a system that uses it |
| Explanations | A two-part video per question | Written theory, then a hint ladder that nudges instead of answering |
| Languages | Written solutions in 9 languages | Six, running in the browser: JS, TS, Python, PHP, Java, C# |
| Timed practice | 4 timed assessments | A timed round on an unfamiliar problem |
| Price | $119 for a year of All Access, 7 products | First 33 steps free, then one payment |

## Where AlgoExpert is better

The videos. Every question has a walkthrough in two parts: the idea first, then the code.

The bundle. The same $119 opens six more products, systems design among them. AlgoPath has no systems design at all.

The list is short on purpose. 200 questions is a number you can finish.

## Is AlgoExpert worth it

It is if you learn by watching someone reason and you want one list to work through. The price covers every product they sell, which is a fair deal if you use two of them.

It is a weaker buy if your problem is recall. The video shows the answer before you have produced one, and a question you watched feels solved when it is not.

The page shows $693 struck through beside a countdown. Judge the $119 on its own.

## Where AlgoPath is better

Every step hands you a file with a signature, a TODO and the tests. You write the body. The tests stay red until it works.

Then the same function goes into a small production case: a rate limiter, an LRU cache, a git bisect. You see the algorithm doing a job.

A trainer drills the part interviews test first. You read an unlabelled problem and name one of the [52 patterns](/patterns) before you write a line.

## Using both

Build the algorithm here first. Then take an AlgoExpert question that uses it and try it cold. Watch the video only after your own attempt.

## Verdict

- One list, videos, and systems design in the same purchase: AlgoExpert.
- You can follow any walkthrough and cannot write the code alone: AlgoPath.
- You need hundreds of reps and company tags: [LeetCode Premium](/is-leetcode-premium-worth-it).
- A pattern flowchart and tested code templates: [AlgoMonster](/algopath-vs-algomonster).

## Try it

The [placement test](/placement) is 15 questions and needs no account. The first 33 steps are free, [prefix sums](/steps/prefix-sums) and [counting the subarrays that sum to k](/steps/subarray-sum-k) among them. [Full access](/pricing) is one payment, with no renewal.
